Lymington: A Coastal Guide

Lymington, a bustling market town, is nestled idyllically between the northern New Forest and the southern Hampshire coast. Known for its marina and mooring on the Solent, this town is a hub of activity for yachts and commercial shipping. A car ferry service provides easy access to Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight.

Historical Lymington

The town presents a pleasant mix of Georgian and Victorian architecture, but its roots delve further back into the medieval period when it was a hub for salt production. Traces of the old saltern workings can still be seen near the coast.

Local Attractions

Although not a typical seaside resort, nearby beaches at Milford on Sea and Barton on Sea offer coastal enjoyment. The Solent Way, a marked trail running from Lymington to Milford on Sea via Hurst Castle, spans around 60 miles of mainly flat terrain.
